The Importance of a Solid Foundation

August 25, 2015 By Ally

Building an unshakable infrastructure

This past weekend my family and I entered (and won!) a sandcastle building contest. I have been building sandcastles for years and so I had an advantage over many of the other participants: Experience and a plausible strategy.

I often get complimented on the creative details of my work by interested onlookers, but what they don’t realize is how most of my diligent efforts are in the not-so-sexy-building of the solid foundation first. The first two hours of my process are usually spent analyzing the sand content, digging until the most ideal grains are found, then saturating the sand and applying pressure to compact it into a solid formation. Once the foundation is in place, I can get to work on the impressive detailing– which is the EASY and fun part of the process. Those are the moments where I can really shine and show off my artistic abilities… but without those initial steps and a concrete foundation, the entire structure could collapse.

A strong foundation is EVERYTHING.

When you can adequately depend upon your mind and your core values— you KNOW you can handle ANYTHING. So many of us dive into creative business ideas and new projects for the FUN of it… and then realize a little too late that we could have avoided major pitfalls if we had only spent more time establishing that solid foundation. Without concrete construction, you will likely find yourself doing more DAMAGE CONTROL and less fun and creative DETAILING.

Strengthen your framework with guided journaling.

The bedrock of your life…is your brain.

When was the last time you worked out your mind? We often talk about keeping our bodies in shape, eating healthy and staying fit— but did you know that you can also train your brain to far exceed its initial intellectual potential? No matter your age or current intelligence level, that gray matter in your skull is constantly changing and evolving.

Journaling is a gymnasium for your mind!

Science has shown us that writing down our thoughts as a means of creative expression has enormous benefits for our mental and physical health, managing stress levels, as well as improving our ability to be more productive and solve problems.

Create a road map to remarkable results.

Your thinking, your values, your beliefs, your experiences and your perspectives all come together to form your current results. By honing in on your thinking, epic transformation takes place in a very short period of time. The results ripple across every aspect of your life creating colossal changes from relationships to health to revenue.
